Maple Leaf Preschool
What is a typical day like at Maple Leaf Preschool?
9:00 am - 9:30 am - Interactive Play which consists of an unstructured Montessori style opportunity to socialize, communicate and play freely with teaching staff and peers. This time gives the children the opportunity to share what their interests are.
9:30 am - 10:00 am - Circle and Teaching Time where the children gather for formal instruction.
10:00 am - 10:20 am - Snack and Free Reading time where thechildren enjoy a healthy snack and then can read independently or with peers and teaching staff. Often times the children participate in snack preparation.
10:20 am - 10:40 am - Large Motor Skill Development where the children participate in music with movement and indoor or outdoor (weather permitting) movement activities. Our first priority it to take the children outside to get some exercise and fresh air.
*Every Tuesday is Music with Mrs. Jenkins, where the children engage in hand-bell choir, and are exposed to guitar, piano and singing activities that encourage large motor development.
10:40 am - 11:20 am - Learning Centers and Art which allows the children to explore many different avenues of learning in the writing, math, art, science, music, and free play rotations.
11:20 am - 11:30 am - Clean-up and Goodbye where the children collectively take responsibility for cleaning-up from the day's activities and gather for a group song to end the day.
