Maple Leaf Preschool

Heidi Jenkins, Volunteer Music & Hand-bell Instructor

Music is a passion and I cherish working with children.  I consider it a gift to be able to combine the two at Maple Leaf Academy Preschool as Music Volunteer.   We explore through singing, rhythm and movement.  The children practice working as a team through our hand bell choir.  There is nothing quite like the pride and joy on young people’s faces when they are engaged in song!

I grew up in Ohio where I studied voice and sang at weddings and civic events. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication with an emphasis in International Studies from Miami University, I headed to the Chicago area to work in Human Resources.  I was employed by a major healthcare company and was lucky enough to be surrounded by a rich tapestry of immigrants there.  This experience solidified my appreciation for our diverse world.  Our family, which includes my husband and two sons, moved to Wisconsin in 1998. I was on staff at Pilgrim UCC for 17 years building a variety of programs and had fun writing seven musicals. I recently returned to human resources and work as a recruiter and HR counselor for several veterinary clinics throughout North America. I also teach English online to children in China. In my spare time I enjoy traveling and dabbling on the piano, guitar, violin and mandolin.
